East Japan Railway Company (JR East) and Weathernews Inc. will once again hold the 'Hishotabi' (Cool Summer Travel) campaign in 2026, proposing trips to cooler regions in Eastern Japan amid recent trends of extreme heat.
Through advertisements at stations and on trains, as well as integrated PR via the Weather News app, the campaign promotes travel to 'cool destinations' that can be enjoyed comfortably even during the harshest summer heat.
Using temperature data provided by Weathernews, the campaign recommends attractive summer getaway spots. With 'temperature' as the objective data axis, promotion featuring Weathernews forecasters will be deployed.
(1) Posters: Four types of posters featuring temperature data and scenic landscapes will be displayed at major JR East stations and 'Eki-tabi Concierge' locations, covering areas like Sukayu, Nobeyama, and Tazawako Kogen.
(2) Videos: Two types of videos will be released starting in June via social media and train channels.
(3) Special Website: Features model courses and detailed information on summer getaways.
(4) Weather News Integration: Recommended travel information will be shared via the official YouTube channel and the Weather News app during the campaign.
'JR East View Dynamic Rail Pack' allows users to freely combine trains, accommodations, or day trips, available exclusively online.
