What is 'Red Cross Movement Month'?
May 1st is the anniversary of the founding of the Japanese Red Cross Society, and May 8th is the birthday of its founder, Henry Dunant, known as 'World Red Cross Day'. Therefore, May is designated as 'Red Cross Movement Month' to introduce the Red Cross's activities to everyone and to request cooperation for its operational funds.
Under the philosophy of 'Protecting human lives, health, and dignity', the Red Cross is engaged in various activities in 191 countries and regions worldwide, including responses to natural disasters and operations in conflict zones.
The Kanagawa Prefecture Branch of the Japanese Red Cross Society has produced promotional materials such as posters, flyers, and brochures for public relations. These posters and other materials will be displayed at stations within the jurisdiction of JR East Yokohama Branch and on the Yokohama Minatomirai Line.
In addition, to raise awareness of Red Cross activities, the Red Light-Up Project will be implemented again this year, centered around May 8th.
