NEC has started selling usage licenses for a DNS security function in collaboration with Soliton Systems' "Soliton DNS Guard" (Note 1) for its enterprise VPN router "UNIVERGE IX-R Series." This function is realized through connection with the cloud-based integrated management service "NetMeister" (Note 3). Additionally, a RADIUS authentication function (Note 4) combining the IX-R Series and "NetMeister Prime" will be released simultaneously. <DNS Security Function Image>
【Background】 In recent years, digitalization has accelerated, increasing the burden of maintaining IT infrastructure. Simultaneously, there is a shortage of network engineers requiring advanced skills, leading to an increase in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) facing challenges in implementing security measures and managing related equipment. Furthermore, with the rise of remote conferences and cloud adoption, corporate network traffic has grown, necessitating lightweight security measures that do not strain network lines.
【Features of This Service】 ・DNS Security Function At the DNS layer, the initial stage of the communication process, this function can detect and block access to threats and sites inappropriate for business operations. This reduces device load, maintaining router performance while mitigating the impact on network lines and enhancing security. The function also allows for visualization of effectiveness through report output and security log confirmation via a web browser using the cloud-based integrated management service "NetMeister." Policy settings such as access control can be managed centrally from the NetMeister management screen, eliminating the need for advanced skills and reducing setup time for implementation and operation. These benefits provide an easy-to-implement and effective network security environment even for SMEs.
・RADIUS Authentication Function This function enables an IEEE 802.1X authentication environment by configuring the UNIVERGE IX-R Series as the authentication server and the UNIVERGE QX Series as the authentication client. Since authentication information is stored in the cloud, authentication systems spanning multiple locations can be easily built, and a one-stop service is available for issuing CA certificates (Note 4). Furthermore, by eliminating the need for individual management with network device management systems, operational costs and human burden can be reduced.
