NEC Corporate Executive CISO Appointed Chief Information Security Advisor to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications

Shinichi Fuchigami, NEC Corporate Executive CISO, has been appointed as the Chief Information Security Advisor to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), effective April 1, 2026.

The MIC has established the position of Chief Information Security Advisor to appropriately promote information security measures for the MIC and its affiliated independent administrative agencies, under the Cyber Security Coordinator, who serves as the MIC's Chief Information Security Officer (MIC CISO). This role is filled by an expert with specialized knowledge and experience in information security. Mr. Fuchigami has now been appointed to this position.

At NEC, Mr. Fuchigami has been involved in formulating and executing information security strategies for the entire group, promoting security-by-design to provide high-quality and secure systems and services to customers, strengthening countermeasures including the supply chain, and fostering human resources through initiatives such as promoting the acquisition of the international CISSP qualification. We are confident that he will leverage this extensive experience and knowledge to further strengthen the MIC's information security measures. With the slogan ".JP (Protecting Japan's Cyberspace)," NEC will continue to contribute to the realization of a safe and secure society.

Biography:

・April 2018: Joined NEC Corporation

・After serving in the Cybersecurity Strategy Division, assumed the role of Corporate Executive CISO in April 2024, overseeing security for the entire NEC Group.

・Also engaged in education, primarily focusing on the international security qualification CISSP (Note), as an ISC2 Certified Lead Instructor.

Advisory Board Member of the Graduate School of Information Security, Executive Committee Member of Hardening Project, Director of IT Security Center, Director of Cyber Security Talent Infrastructure Association (CSTIA), Councilor of Japan Institute for Promotion of Digital Economy and Community (JIPDEC), Part-time Lecturer at the National Police Academy, Visiting Researcher at Hokkaido University Information Initiative Center, Security Advisor at University of the Ryukyus Information Infrastructure Center.
