JPIX Launches CGN Service for IX Service Users

JPIX (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Akihiro Tsuru; hereinafter 'JPIX') will launch a CGN service providing Carrier-Grade NAT functionality starting in April 2026. As IPv4 address exhaustion becomes increasingly severe, we will begin offering this service to customers currently using our IX services in the Tokyo metropolitan area to ensure they can maintain a stable network environment for the future. The newly established CGN service combines high availability through our redundant equipment configuration with high traffic processing performance. In terms of operations, the design is intended to reduce practical workloads and enable smooth migration, including efficient log management. Since it can be introduced without significantly changing existing operational systems, early utilization is expected. Furthermore, for customers considering additional purchases of IPv4 addresses or the introduction of new CGN equipment, our CGN service is an effective option that allows them to maintain an IPv4 environment while keeping initial investment and operating costs low. Additionally, for customers who are already operating their own CGN equipment, it can be introduced without major changes to the current environment, serving as a low-burden replacement method.
