[JPI Seminar] AI Robotics Strategy and Social Implementation: Insights from LDP 'Robot Parliamentarian League' (June 5th)

The Japan Planning Institute (JPI) will host a seminar on June 5th (Friday) featuring Taro Yamada, a member of the House of Councillors and Secretary-General of the LDP's 'Robot Parliamentarian League.' During this transition from generative AI to physical AI—AI with a physical form—the Japanese government has prioritized AI robotics as a key pillar of its growth strategy. With the multi-purpose robot market expected to reach approximately 60 trillion yen by 2040, Japan is aiming to capture over 30% of the global market, totaling 20 trillion yen. This seminar will discuss Japan's path to success and the challenges of social implementation, reflecting on the policy proposals made by the league and the recent formulation of the national AI robotics strategy. The lectures will cover various topics, including the essence of the paradigm shift, the transition toward integrated physical intelligent systems, and the establishment of a data circulation cycle that leverages Japan's strong manufacturing foundations and on-site data assets.
