PIST6 PUMPTRACK CHIBA (hereinafter PPC), located in the lawn area of Chiba Park, hosted a two-day event titled 'PPC Riding SHOW' on June 5 (Fri) and 6 (Sat), 2026, blending bicycles with upcycled fashion.

This event was realized from an idea proposed by a PPC user. It was a first-of-its-kind initiative where over 20 BMX and MTB riders, inline skaters, and skateboarders wore upcycled outfits and rode on the pump track styled as a runway. The event highlighted how PPC is not just a sports facility, but a space where human connections and new cultures emerge.

On the day, many visitors stopped by, fostering communication through sports.

Users and staff wore custom outfits and performed runway-style rides, utilizing the pump track’s unique undulations. The wind and dynamic movement generated by the course’s ups and downs enhanced the visual appeal of the riders in their costumes.

From a Practice Ground to a Cultural Hub

PPC is a sports facility where people enjoy BMX, MTB, and skateboarding, and it is also cherished as a place where users of all generations interact, exchange ideas, and build communities.

The 'PPC Riding SHOW' emerged from these everyday interactions.

Beyond competing in speed and skill, gathering with friends, sharing ideas, and expressing individuality are also core charms of cycling.

An Event Born from User Ideas

The concept began with the idea that 'clothes look beautiful fluttering in the wind while riding the pump track.' Shiimoto from studio.Reboot, who led the overall creative direction, leveraged their perspective as a user to collaborate with PPC staff on costume creation and event production.

The outfits were upcycled from secondhand clothes contributed by participants and staff. Various techniques such as dyeing, bleaching, stenciling, and splatter painting were applied, incorporating bicycle chains and other parts as design motifs. Participants created their own original designs, expressing their individuality through one-of-a-kind garments.

'studio.Reboot' actively creates and promotes upcycled fashion. For this event, they emphasized that both 'bicycle' and 'upcycle' contain the word 'cycle,' symbolizing circulation. The theme was to create cycles—of community, human connection, and shared spaces—through PPC.

A New Local Gathering Place for All Generations

On the day, users ranging from first-grade elementary students to those in their 60s participated as models. A 'train ride'—where over 20 riders rode in a connected line—was also showcased. The sight of riders synchronizing their movements through the course was spectacular, with spectators and other users cheering together, creating a unified and joyful atmosphere.

While PPC is a sports facility, this event stood out by not focusing on competition of skill or performance, but rather providing a space where each individual could freely express themselves. The sight of children and adults enjoying the same stage through cycling powerfully demonstrated the true essence of sports: connecting people across generations.

Moving forward, PPC will continue to develop as an open facility for the community, fostering new experiences and cultures through cycling.

PPC Staff Comments

Pump tracks are still not widely recognized in Japan, and there are only four Velosolutions-made pump tracks nationwide, including PPC. Being able to co-create the 'PPC Riding SHOW' with our users at one of these rare facilities was my greatest joy.

This was the first time we invited users to be performers. We placed great importance on the fact that 'the performers are not professional riders, but fan riders who enjoy PPC.' We carefully designed the program to highlight each participant’s individuality and charm, considering differences in riding levels, kids, and female riders.

The event concluded safely without accidents or injuries. We heard positive feedback from participants, such as 'I want to try jumps next year!' and 'I want to join the roll train next time!' Seeing that new goals have emerged through the event, I feel deeply that hosting it was worthwhile.
