Three days to experience the "now" of German wine will begin in Tokyo. Wines of Germany, responsible for the promotion of German wine, will exhibit at the international wine and alcoholic beverage exhibition "ProWine Tokyo 2026," held at Tokyo Big Sight for three days from Wednesday, April 15 to Friday, April 17, 2026.

This time, 27 producers and importers will gather to present a diverse program, including tastings of wines not yet imported into Japan and special seminars by the German Wine Queen. We invite you to experience the forefront of evolving German wine at the venue.

ProWine 2026 (held in Düsseldorf, Germany), boasting over 31,000 visitors from around the world, is known as the most important marketplace for wine, spirits, and craft beverages. For its third edition in Japan, ProWine Tokyo will feature 27 companies exhibiting at the German Pavilion (Booth: W-H01), with financial and technical support from the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMLEH).

Furthermore, for this exhibition, the 77th German Wine Queen, Anna Zentz, who serves as an ambassador for German wine, will visit Japan and conduct mini-seminars 2-3 times a day, totaling 8 sessions. All themes will be related to major trends, introducing Riesling, light wines, Spätburgunder, premium Sekt (German sparkling wine), organic wines, and an overview of German wine quality classifications.

In addition, in collaboration with "Wine Kingdom" magazine, Sommelier Koichi Tanabe will conduct a seminar on German light wines at the Wine Kingdom booth. Throughout the three days, various unimported wines will also be available for tasting at the tasting corner within the Wine Kingdom booth. We encourage you to take this opportunity to learn more about German light wines and discover their diversity.

About the German Wine Queen

The German Wine Queen is an official ambassador for German wine, selected annually since 1949 by a large expert committee. Only regional queens from the 13 wine-producing regions can be nominated, and the selection is based on extensive knowledge. Candidates are required to have expertise in oenology and winemaking techniques, as well as foreign language communication skills and deep knowledge of the export business. After a preliminary selection, six candidates proceed to the final selection, which is broadcast on television to over a million viewers. Ultimately, the title is awarded to the candidate who best represents and explains German wine through their ability, skills, and humor. The German Wine Queen, along with two Wine Princesses, acts as an ambassador for German wine in over 200 activities both domestically and internationally, from the USA to Japan.
