Gotanda JP Building to Host Japan’s First Corporate Mölkky Tournament Held in an Indoor Building Lobby

Japan Post Real Estate Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Akira Ikeda) will hold the “Gotanda JP Building Cup Corporate Mölkky Tournament” from May 27 to June 25, 2026, as its first community event aimed at promoting interaction among tenant companies. The tournament will be Japan’s first (*) “indoor building lobby-style Mölkky tournament,” held on a special artificial turf court set up in the third-floor office lobby of the building. Mölkky is a sport originating in Finland. Its simple gameplay, in which players throw a wooden stick to knock down pins, and its accessibility regardless of age or experience make it well suited for corporate team building. As a special program, the winning team will play an exhibition match against “King of Mölkky,” led by Tetsuya Morita of the comedy duo Saraba Seishun no Hikari. The match against a well-known team is intended to increase participant motivation and generate broader attention for the event. King of Mölkky is a Japanese national Mölkky team formed around Tetsuya Morita of Saraba Seishun no Hikari. Its four members are Morita, Minamikawa, Tameguchi of Love Letters, and Kanai, formerly of Taiku. The team has participated in world tournaments and appears in variety programs and other media. Gotanda JP Building has attracted attention as a new business hub where diverse companies gather since its grand opening in April 2024. To further energize interaction among tenants and create a place where workers can feel more connected, the organizer focused on Mölkky as a sport that anyone can casually join. The tournament has three main features. First, an artificial turf court measuring 6 meters by 10 meters will be installed in the third-floor office lobby, creating an “indoor green space” inside the office building for the competition. Second, throughout April to June, practice sessions will be held every Wednesday and Thursday during lunch breaks and after work. Instructors from the JTSG Mölkky Association will be stationed on site to explain rules and manage safety so that beginners can enjoy the sport, while encouraging inter-company交流 through team play. Third, after the final, the winning team will be able to face the well-known Mölkky team King of Mölkky in an exhibition match. The event is titled “Gotanda JP Building Cup Corporate Mölkky Tournament.” The venue is inside Gotanda JP Building. Practice sessions and qualifiers will be held in the third-floor office lobby on an artificial turf court, while the final will be held in the first-floor exterior area on a special Front Terrace court. The event period runs from Wednesday, April 1 to Thursday, June 25, 2026. Practice sessions will be held from Wednesday, April 1 to Wednesday, June 24, every Wednesday and Thursday from 12:00 to 14:00 and 18:00 to 20:00. Qualifier A will be held on Wednesday, May 27, from 12:00 to 13:00 and 18:30 to 19:30; Qualifier B on Thursday, June 4, from 12:00 to 13:00 and 18:30 to 19:30; Qualifier C on Wednesday, June 10, from 12:00 to 13:00 and 18:30 to 19:30; Qualifier D on Thursday, June 18, from 12:00 to 13:00 and 18:30 to 19:30; and the final on Thursday, June 25, from 18:30 to 21:00. Eligible participants include tenant companies of Gotanda JP Building, shared office members, and stores such as Gotanda Shokudo. Participation is free, with a separate insurance fee of 1,000 yen per team. The tournament will include 32 teams of three to four members each; because of high demand, participating teams will be selected by lottery. Qualifiers will use a group league format based on total score, and the final will use a tournament format. The organizer is Japan Post Real Estate Co., Ltd.
