MCM is celebrating its 50th anniversary by unveiling "Disco on Mars," an immersive soundscape, at Milan Design Week 2026.
This project, created by Atelier Biagetti, embodies the brand's "From Munich to Mars" vision. With a cosmic theme, it invites visitors to a new experience where design, technology, and sound intersect.
The stage for this event is the Rotonda del Pellegrini in Milan, Italy. This historic building will transform into a "spaceship landed on Mars," creating a space where the mood of the 70s and a futuristic worldview intertwine.
**Experience Concept**
This exhibition marks the symbolic kickoff of the 50th-anniversary celebrations. It is the third collaboration between MCM, a luxury brand founded in Munich, Germany, and Atelier Biagetti, a Milan-based design studio.
**LEVEL 0: THE LAB**
The journey begins in an "experimental space" that connects MCM's past and future.
Products designed by Atelier Biagetti and upcycled with the Visetos monogram are displayed. Everyday objects are reinterpreted from a Martian perspective, including Orbit (a robot-inspired pouf), Gravity (hand weights expressing weightlessness), Mach-1 (a space helmet), and Alphabet (a candle collection). The soundscape is composed of signals, protocols, and mechanical rhythms, creating a technological environment reminiscent of zero gravity.
**LEVEL 1: DISCO MARS**
At the heart of the experience, the disco space transforms a roller skate rink into a dance floor.
In this space, where robot DJs and humans coexist, 70s pop culture and the future intersect, immersing visitors as part of it. With music curation by a resident DJ from Berghain, a symbol of the Berlin club scene, the space transforms into a stage for energetic performances.
**LEVEL 2: DIVA DOME**
On the top floor, a dome space emerges as a weightless, ritualistic setting.
Reinterpreting the human voice as "the most primitive yet futuristic technology," sound functions as a portal connecting different worlds. A giant sculpture is placed in the center, and visitors are guided into a quiet, immersive experience within a space enveloped in soft light.
**Collaboration Products**
In collaboration with Atelier Biagetti, MCM has created limited-edition items with redesigned MCM Visetos monogram upcycled products. Everyday objects are arranged as a collection, reimagined for life on Mars, including geometric candles, freehand robot-like poufs, and futuristic helmets.
**MCM x VETSAK**
In the exhibition space, MCM and Vetsak interiors are adopted as part of the spatial design, with high-quality, modern seating further enhancing the immersive experience. Designed as a "landing spot for global nomads," these comfort items are collectible, combining design and everyday practicality. They feature flexibility that seamlessly integrates into modern lifestyles, supreme comfort, and visually striking forms.
