Through this collaboration, Sansan will begin functional integration between its accounting AX service 'Bill One' and Asuene's sustainability AI platform 'ASUENE,' and the two companies will act as sales partners, mutually promoting each other's services. By leveraging invoice data from Bill One, this partnership will support the efficient disclosure of sustainability information and strengthen data management systems in preparation for the upcoming mandatory CO2 emissions reporting for listed companies on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, which will be phased in starting from the fiscal year ending March 2027.

Background of the Collaboration

Amid growing global concern over climate change, regulatory frameworks requiring corporate sustainability compliance are rapidly being established—such as the introduction of international sustainability disclosure standards in 2023. The Sustainability Standards Board of Japan (SSBJ) is developing its own sustainability disclosure standards that align with international benchmarks while adapting to Japan's market environment. Starting from the fiscal year ending March 2027, companies above a certain market capitalization will be required to disclose CO2 emissions and other data in their securities reports, necessitating accurate calculation and data disclosure processes.

Since the entire supply chain—including raw material procurement and transportation from suppliers—falls under disclosure requirements, calculating CO2 emissions requires collecting diverse data. When using invoices that record transaction history, staff must aggregate invoices from various locations and manually input line-item data into dedicated systems, creating a significant workload. Sansan and Asuene have decided to collaborate, as the integration of Bill One—which seamlessly digitizes invoices received in any format or method—and ASUENE—which calculates and visualizes CO2 emissions from invoice data—can drastically reduce the burden of emissions calculation.

Asuene's sustainability AI platform 'ASUENE' allows companies to reflect their own managed data and collect information from various stakeholders—including group companies and suppliers—to calculate CO2 emissions.
