In response to the growing global interest in sustainability, the MICE industry—particularly when attracting and hosting international conferences organized by international bodies—is seeing a trend where the sustainability efforts of the host city are heavily scrutinized. Under these circumstances, JCMA established the "SDGs Committee" in 2024 with the goal of contributing to the promotion of sustainability across the industry, providing support to help members deepen their knowledge of SDGs activities and sustainability.

As part of these efforts, the committee initially published 33 case studies gathered from 17 companies on its website so that mutual information sharing among members would lead to further support for sustainable corporate activities. With the recent addition of 48 cases from 26 companies, the total number of published cases has increased to 81.

Social needs for sustainability are expected to continue growing. By having the MICE industry—which has the power to contribute to society through regional economic impacts and the creation of business innovation opportunities—take the initiative in addressing sustainability, we will continue to strive for societal development. Through these efforts, we aim to be an industry continuously chosen by the next generation of talent who will lead society in the future.
