Comment on Certification | Yukio Hayakawa, Representative Director and CEO, JOYCAL JAPAN Co., Ltd.

We at JOYCAL JAPAN strive to be an organization that is not afraid of change and constantly takes on new challenges. The foundation of this is an unwavering commitment to the physical and mental health of all our employees and their families.

Being certified as a 'Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organization (Large Corporation Category)' for three consecutive years is a result of the awareness and efforts of each individual employee, and I am very proud of this achievement.

However, this certification is not the goal; it is merely a milestone in building a better workplace environment. We will continue to do our utmost to create an environment where employees can be healthy both physically and mentally, thrive as their authentic selves, and remain a company where they can fully enjoy both their work and their lives.

Employee Voices (Realizing Health & Productivity Management)

At our company, we emphasize that health management initiatives should not end as 'company policies,' but rather that employees on the front lines should feel the benefits in their daily work. Below are comments from employees currently working here.

<Planning Office, 50s, Male> I started using a step-counting app because of the company's walking event. The mechanism where you earn miles the more you walk was surprisingly fun, and before I knew it, 'Let's hit over 10,000 steps today!' became our daily motto. Now, it's become standard for me to walk three train stations' worth of distance on my way home. I've realized that the secret to keeping up with these initiatives is that you can enjoy them like a game, even though you're doing it for your health.

<Marketing Department, 30s, Female> I am able to work flexibly according to my family circumstances. By taking remote work or morning/afternoon leave as needed, I maintain a balance between my work and personal life. This way of working is only possible because of the understanding and cooperation of my team, and I am able to increase productivity while coordinating with those around me.

JOYCAL JAPAN's Health Initiatives

Under our mission, 'A steering wheel of hope in every hand,' JOYCAL JAPAN aims to support the 'next step' for people and businesses with cars at the center. We believe that creating an environment where each employee and their family can continue to work happily and in good physical and mental health is essential to achieving this.

Our health management initiatives based on the 'JOYCAL Three Actuals Principle' (Genba, Genbutsu, Genjitsu) have been continuously evaluated, leading to our third consecutive certification as a '2026 Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organization (Large Corporation Category).'

<Key Initiatives> - Achieved 100% participation rate in health checkups for all employees and established a follow-up system after checkups. - Held 'Shokuiku (Food Education) Marche' on the second Wednesday of every month to promote awareness of dietary habits throughout the year. - Conducted app-based walking events for all employees (participation rate: 47.9%). - Installed standing desks, height-adjustable desks, and balance balls to support increased daily physical activity. - Introduced the 'Happy Holiday System'—providing financial subsidies when employees spend time together on their days off to promote communication (Workplace communication dissatisfaction rate improved from 60% to 42%). - Implemented mandatory smoking cessation seminars and video viewing for all employees, reducing the smoking rate from 45% to 41% (73% of smokers have an intention to quit or reduce cigarette consumption). - Conducted seminars on health issues specific to women (participation rate: 54.0%). - Conducted training on male childcare leave for all managers and established a permanent expert consultation desk via EAP (Employee Assistance Program).

Future Outlook

JOYCAL JAPAN positions health management as an 'investment in people' and will continue to work on improving employee well-being through continuous improvement. In FY2027, we plan to prioritize further improving the rate of behavioral change after health checkups and expanding mental health support.

As our new slogan, 'Everyone [ ]. That blank space is your future,' suggests, we aim to build an organization where each employee can expand their potential in their own way while leading the DX of the automotive industry.
