Senshu University (President: Kuninobu Kubo) has installed a new bouldering wall for sport climbing at its Neyagawa Campus. Matching the lead wall installed in 2024, this bouldering wall meets international competition standards. Together, the two walls are collectively named 'SETSUNAN APEX WALL' (nickname: Setsu-epe). A completion ceremony will be held on July 4, together with the newly completed kendo hall, 'Setsusho-kan'.

【Key Points】 ● Installation of a new sport climbing bouldering wall and completion ceremony ● Top-level techniques demonstrated by Senshu University athletes, including Japanese national team members, during test climbs ● Three athletes from the university selected for the 'World Climbing Youth World Championships Arco 2026' delegation

SETSUNAN APEX WALL (Boulder) capable of accommodating various difficulty levels

'SETSUNAN APEX WALL' derives its name from the word 'APEX,' symbolizing climbers striving toward their ultimate limits and highest achievements. It represents the university's commitment to cultivating elite athletes and advancing competitive performance. With the completion of the bouldering wall, combined with the existing lead wall at the university and the speed wall at Josen Gakuen Junior and Senior High School (in Hirakata City)—both part of the same educational foundation—Senshu University now offers training facilities for all three sport climbing disciplines (lead, boulder, speed). This makes it one of the largest such educational facilities in Japan.

Senshu University's Sport Climbing Club was established in April 2022, with Jiro Nakagai, former Japanese national team coach, appointed as head coach. The club currently has 33 members, representing all three disciplines. Notably, Tomane Yoshida (3rd in the 2025 IFSC Climbing World Cup annual ranking in lead) is among six athletes from the university selected for the Japanese national team※1. Additionally, three athletes from the university have been selected for the delegation to the 'World Climbing Youth World Championships Arco 2026' to be held in Italy from July 18 to 25※2. During the test climb event at the newly completed bouldering wall, team members will demonstrate world-class techniques.
