Freelance announcer Aya Shibata appeared as a guest from June 8 (Mon) to June 12 (Fri) on the Nippon Broadcasting System program 'Akane Osawa LUCKY 7 supported by Inuzuka Seisakusho,' hosted by talent Akane Osawa. She talked about her SKE48 experience and her current approach to work.
Shibata was active as a member of SKE48 since 2010. After graduating from SKE48 in 2016, she turned to freelance announcing and is currently active in a wide range of programs, including news, business, and economics.
Shibata reflected, 'Since my idol days, I decided I would absolutely give it my all.' She said the origin lies in the fact that SKE48 was a particularly athletic-style environment among the 48 groups, and she was impressed by Yasushi Akimoto's words: 'Dreams are 1 centimeter beyond where you reach with full power.'
She looked back on theater performances saying, 'I did it until my lungs nearly tore,' and revealed an anecdote where she hit a tambourine so hard during a song that she broke it and bruised her waist.
Shibata asserts, 'An idol is someone who doesn't give up, and the one left standing at the end wins.' When asked, 'If you were reborn?', she answered immediately, 'I would absolutely become an idol again. I want to join SKE48 again, and I would join the general election.' Seeing her say, 'Everything, including the painful things, makes me who I am,' Akane Osawa praised her, saying, 'It's cool that you can say that!'
