First Store in Handa City! "Jimoty Spot Handa," a Public-Private Partnership Reuse Hub for Sharing Unwanted Items from Free, Opens June 26

Jimoty Inc. (hereinafter referred to as Jimoty) will open "Jimoty Spot Handa" on June 26, 2026, based on the reuse agreement concluded with Handa City, Aichi Prefecture (hereinafter referred to as Handa City) in October 2020. Jimoty Spot Handa will be the first store in Handa City for our public-private partnership reuse hub. In fiscal year 2025, our nationwide hubs achieved approximately 4,300 tons of waste reduction annually, and we aim to accelerate resource circulation and reduce waste disposal costs in Handa City as well.

■About Jimoty Spot

Jimoty Spot is a service that allows people to share "items that are still usable but no longer needed" within the community. Those who wish to give away unwanted items can simply bring them in without reservation, and they will be connected to the next person who needs them. Those who wish to receive items can check product information on the local information site "Jimoty" and then view and purchase or pick up the items at the store. We widely reuse "items that are still usable" which are often discarded due to low resale value, including items not accepted by recycle shops and even furniture that incurs high shipping costs.

"Jimoty Spot Handa" will be operated in cooperation with Oتكara Souko Co., Ltd., which upholds the mission of "Delivering treasures that make life interesting." Oتكara Souko operates approximately 50 reuse shops mainly in the Tokai and Kansai regions, specializing in unique product selections that are enjoyable like a treasure hunt just by visiting.

We are extremely pleased that Oتكara Souko Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Jimoty Inc. and Handa City, will be able to open "Jimoty Spot."

For many years, through the operation of reuse shops, we have engaged with the "value of things" and assisted in connecting them to the next customers. On the other hand, we have often felt frustrated when we couldn't meet customers' requests to "dispose of unwanted items" because it was difficult to assign a price, leading to the disposal of still-usable items.

This project, which starts with strong empathy for Jimoty's social significance, is a major step forward in solving this "mottainai" (what a waste) problem. By leveraging our reuse know-how and store network, we aim to create an environment where people can easily bring in unwanted items, fostering a community that connects "what a waste" to "the next person." We will continue to contribute to the realization of a circular economy while staying close to the lives of the residents of our local community, Handa City.

■Waste Reduction Achievements Nationwide and Future Outlook

Jimoty has signed reuse agreements with 301 municipalities nationwide, and operates Jimoty Spots in 37 of them. In 2025, approximately 1.4 million items were reused across all our nationwide locations, resulting in an estimated waste reduction of about 4,300 tons (*1). We plan to expand Jimoty Spots to 329 locations by 2030. This expansion is expected to reduce waste by approximately 84,000 tons annually (254 tons per store per year) (*2), which is equivalent to about 6% of the total municipal solid waste and clothing waste generated nationwide (*3).

Jimoty Spots will continue to strengthen collaboration with municipalities and local businesses, establishing hubs where anyone can easily engage in reuse, thereby making the act of "giving away" as simple a choice as "throwing away." We aim to establish reuse as a standard social infrastructure, making community life richer and more sustainable.
