The Human Resource Development Support Division of Japan Management Association Management Center Co., Ltd. (Representative Director: Shiro Cho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter JMAM), which provides education and training for corporations and individuals, has launched two new courses, "Health Management®21 Balancing Childcare and Work, and Support" and "Self-Check 21 Balancing Childcare and Work, and Support," as part of its "Health Management® Library" within the corporate e-learning tool "e-Learning Library®(※1)". These courses have been available since July 2026.
Development Background
In recent years, with the increase in dual-income households, balancing childcare and work has become a familiar theme for many business professionals. According to the "Labor Force Survey (Detailed Tabulation)"(※3) by the Statistics Bureau of Japan, the number of dual-income households in 2024 reached 13 million, approximately 2.6 times the number of single-earner households (5.08 million). Meanwhile, a survey by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare(※4) revealed that 72.2% of young people responded that they "have concerns about balancing work and childcare," suggesting that interest in support for work-life balance from companies will continue to grow.
For companies, the revised "Child Care and Family Care Leave Act"(※5), which has been gradually implemented since April 2025, requires measures to realize flexible working styles during childcare periods, as well as individual notification and intention confirmation regarding systems, to support the balance between work and childcare. Against this social backdrop, in addition to system development, the importance of education and awareness-raising is increasing to support autonomous working styles by enabling employees to understand the content and utilization methods of these systems and to proactively use them as needed.
The newly launched courses cover not only an understanding of systems for balancing childcare and work but also the situations that employees with children may face and approaches to challenges and solutions for each stage of a child's growth. The aim is to reduce anxiety for each employee and promote mutual understanding in the workplace. Furthermore, companies can utilize these courses as part of employee education to operate their work-life balance support systems more effectively.
Please utilize these courses to acquire correct knowledge and promote understanding regarding "balancing childcare and work."
The "Health Management® Library" develops and provides learning courses that enable learners of all ages and genders to acquire correct health knowledge and connect it to future health promotion. We will continue to support companies' health management initiatives by promoting employee health management through the provision of diverse health-related courses.
