Movie 'Lifesaver!' to Pre-release in Fukui on May 29, Nationwide June 12. A youth ensemble drama set at Wakasa Wada Beach

The movie 'Lifesaver!', supported by the Japan Lifesaving Association (JLA) through the provision of patrol uniforms, will have a pre-release in Fukui on May 29, 2026, and a nationwide release on June 12, 2026. The film is set at Wakasa Wada Beach in Takahama Town, Fukui Prefecture.

[Inception of the Movie]
Naohiko Hosoda, who began lifesaving after witnessing a drowning accident in high school, established the club at Wakasa Wada Beach in 2007. The production was inspired by his father, Kazuhiko Hosoda, who, after watching the 2018 movie 'Echitesu Monogatari' set in Fukui, wrote a letter to the producer requesting a movie about lifesavers.

[Charm of the Story]
A youth ensemble drama based on a true story. It follows a young man struggling with his future as he grows from being protected to a 'protector' through rigorous training and rescue operations, highlighting the value of life.

[Wakasa Wada Beach]
The first beach in Asia to receive the international 'Blue Flag' environmental certification. It is a JLA-certified beach that employs cutting-edge surveillance systems, including beach monitoring systems and drone patrols.

[Related Events]
The Japan Lifesaving Association will host the National Championship on June 20-21. This serves as a pre-event for the World Masters Games 2027 Kansai, to be held in May 2027, and functions as a qualifying race for the Japan national lifesaving team.
