Japan Import System Co., Ltd. (Location: Chuo-ku, Tokyo / President & CEO: Katsuhiko Tanaka) will begin shipping two limited edition products from the Bielle distillery on Marie-Galante island, crafted with Canne Grise: "Bielle Rhum Blanc Canne Grise" and "Bielle Rhum Vieux Canne Grise Brut de Fût 2018," to liquor stores nationwide starting April 10, 2026. Both are special products available in very limited quantities.
Expressing Bielle's Character with Canne Grise
The core of these two new products is a sugarcane variety called Canne Grise (grey cane). Native to the Caribbean island of Barbados and introduced to Marie-Galante in the 1960s, this variety is well-suited to the local climate and soil. It is known for its drought resistance, high sugar content, and a botanical, rustic flavor profile.
This lineup expresses this character in two different styles: blanc and aged. The blanc offers aromas and flavors reminiscent of citrus and white fruits with a smooth, supple palate. The aged rum presents a more concentrated expression, adorned with depth and spice from barrel aging.
