In this project, domestic and international artists will develop their own exhibitions, treating the lampposts scattered throughout the Jingumae 2-chome shopping street as an "extension of a playground." The artworks incorporate playful interactive elements that make passersby want to stop, peek inside, or touch them.
Based on the idea that "play is not just for children, but a mindset," "Jinny Playground" aims to create a space that sparks curiosity and generates accidental encounters and communication among those who have not forgotten their sense of play. It transforms the everyday act of walking through the city into an open "play" in which anyone can participate.

About Jinny Street Gallery
Jinny Street Gallery is an outdoor art gallery located in the "Showakai" shopping street of Jingumae 2-chome, Shibuya-ku. It holds exhibitions by utilizing 42 streetlight cases along a quiet street, slightly away from the hustle and bustle of Omotesando and Harajuku, dotting the town with small galleries. Jinny Street Gallery is a place where the cityscape and artworks overlap, allowing people to stop and encounter art naturally in their daily lives.

Opening up the entire city as a "Playground" with "Jinny Playground"
Jinny Street Gallery started as a community-led exhibition platform where domestic and international artists can present their work in the streets of Jingumae 2-chome. By bringing art into public spaces, it blurs the boundary between art and daily life, creating moments where people naturally encounter art in their lives.
The project is now evolving beyond a mere exhibition space into an initiative that engages more deeply with the local community. "Jinny Playground" is an attempt to explore new possibilities of how urban shared spaces can be used, felt, and enjoyed.
In Jingumae 2-chome, there is a small park called "Chihara Children's Park" (commonly known as "Senbara Park"). While it is popular among local families, the fenced-in space can feel limited, as if it is exclusively "for children."
"Jinny Playground" reinterprets this landscape and extends the concept of a "playground" beyond the park. Instead of being confined to a specific location, it redefines the entire town as an open playground where anyone can freely participate.
Play is open to everyone, regardless of age. This project creates experiences within the city that celebrate curiosity, serendipity, and communication for those who retain a sense of play.

Participating artists will each curate their assigned lamppost as an "extension of a playground."
The artworks and lampposts will incorporate playful interactive elements that stimulate the curiosity of passersby, making them want to stop, peek, or touch. The works do not exist merely as finished objects; they are developed as mechanisms that generate new art and experiences through public engagement, and this experience itself is part of the project. Each participating artist approaches "play" and "the relationship with the city" from different perspectives, developing diverse expressions within the landscape of Jingumae 2-chome. In addition to the interactive works, there will also be experiential streetlight installations produced by Jinny Street Gallery. Let's walk through the city, see, touch, and experience the streetlight art.
Example: This is a planned art box to be installed during the "Jinny Playground" exhibition. Local residents will be asked to put something in it that would have been thrown away, and an artist will later transform the collected fragments into a work of art.

A treasure hunt game will be held on the streets during the exhibition
To help visitors better enjoy the exhibition while having fun in the shopping district and walking around the city, we are planning a "city-walking treasure hunt game" that can be joined throughout the exhibition period. Game participants can explore the city around the gallery, experience the art, and enjoy making various discoveries.
If you would like details about the treasure hunt game, please enter your contact information in the form below. We will provide more information at a later date.
