The Japan International Cooperation Agency (hereinafter referred to as JICA) is implementing the "Worldwide ICT Industry Collaboration Promotion Project (Armenia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan)" to promote collaboration between Japanese companies requiring innovative high-tech technologies to solve business challenges and global local tech companies and startups, aiming for mutual development.
As part of this project, following last year, 31 global tech companies from Armenia, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan will exhibit at "Japan IT Week 2026 Spring" (April 8-10, 2026, Tokyo Big Sight), one of Japan's largest IT exhibitions.
■ Providing collaboration opportunities with overseas ICT companies for Japanese companies facing IT technology and DX talent shortages through support for global tech companies.
In this project implemented since 2023, JICA has been supporting the ICT industries of Armenia, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan with the aim of forming collaborative relationships predicated on business with Japanese companies and building continuous, reproducible industrial collaboration models.
While the exhibiting companies this time are highly evaluated globally, particularly in Europe and the United States, they are not sufficiently known in Japan. Due to language barriers, differences in business practices, and lack of collaboration track records, Japanese companies also face challenges in envisioning specific collaborative models.
Through support for these companies, JICA aims to promote the ICT industries of partner countries while contributing to strengthening the competitiveness of Japanese industries and revitalizing the Japanese market by providing collaboration opportunities with overseas ICT companies to Japanese companies facing challenges such as securing DX talent and advanced IT technologies, and creating new businesses.
■ Exhibiting companies from each country are carefully selected global tech companies based on real business challenges of Japanese companies at the previous Japan IT Week.
Advanced technology companies, primarily in AI, and innovative startups with track records mainly in Europe and the US will introduce reliable solutions and products for the Japanese market. Furthermore, this time, based on the challenges of Japanese companies collected during the previous Japan IT Week exhibition, such as "improving development speed by utilizing AI" and "supplementing in-house engineer resources," a strictly selected lineup of 31 companies from 3 countries has been formed. Many participating companies are entering Japan for the first time, and companies with experience collaborating with major Japanese companies are also scheduled to participate.
■ Concurrent business matching with Japanese companies during the exhibition period.
During the exhibition period, the project secretariat will provide free business matching support, including interpretation, at the venue for Japanese companies with needs such as "solving internal business challenges by utilizing the latest technologies like AI," "cultivating new business partners or offshore destinations with advanced technologies," or "searching for globally proven SaaS not yet available in Japan." This is an excellent opportunity to meet cutting-edge global tech companies that can establish high competitive advantages worldwide. We hope you will utilize this opportunity to realize collaborations with world-leading cutting-edge tech companies.
