The Japan Environment Association has been selected as the donation recipient for Kokumin Kyosai coop's 'Social Contribution Eco-Housing Smiles Kyosai,' and has received a donation for the 'Kodomo Eco Club,' an environmental education and awareness-raising project for children across Japan.
On Monday, May 25, 2026, a presentation ceremony was held at our association, where Mr. Masazumi Nakada, Executive Director of Kokumin Kyosai coop, presented a donation catalog to Mr. Ikufumi Niimi, Chairman of our association.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Kokumin Kyosai coop, the 116,709 members who subscribed to the 'Social Contribution Eco-Housing Smiles Kyosai,' and all others involved. Thank you very much.
The donation will be used for various activities conducted in collaboration between Kokumin Kyosai coop and the Kodomo Eco Club, such as the National Eco-Activity Competition. We also plan to organize programs where the next generation of children can independently think about disaster prevention and mitigation from an environmental perspective, including activity report campaigns tied to disaster prevention and reduction, and activities useful for promoting environmental conservation.
Furthermore, the donation will be used to enhance support for the Kodomo Eco Club, which is continuously active nationwide, and to expand the project, aiming to nurture children with a mindset that values the environment, the power to take action, and the ability to create the future. At the same time, through this project, we will contribute to achieving the SDGs by strengthening environmental conservation capabilities across regions and promoting sustainable society and community building.
[Reference] About the Kodomo Eco Club The Kodomo Eco Club began as a project of the Ministry of the Environment in 1995. Since fiscal year 2011, the Japan Environment Association, which has served as the national secretariat since the project's inception, has taken over the business. With the backing of the Ministry of the Environment and support from local governments and companies, it supports environmental activities and learning that children conduct independently in their regions.
Every year, approximately 100,000 children register, and a total of over 3.17 million children have participated in activities so far.
