Rare cancers account for 20% of cancer patients. To make many people aware of the current situation and the circumstances surrounding research and development of rare cancers, as well as medical challenges in general, not limited to rare cancers, an online public lecture was held on February 14, 2026. The theme was "The Forefront of Cancer Medical Care Seen Through Rare Cancers." It was co-hosted by the Japan Cancer Society, the National Cancer Center Hospital MASTER KEY Project (an industry-academia-citizen initiative aiming to develop treatments for rare cancers), and the Japan Rare Cancer Patients Network. Eight speakers involved in rare cancers from various standpoints took the stage.
On April 30, 2026, a special page was opened where archived videos of each lecture can be viewed. Anyone can watch them for free.
