The Japan BMX Federation was established in 1984 and is an organization that actively holds BMX racing competitions and conducts promotional activities. BMX is said to have originated in the 1970s in the United States when children imitated motorcycle motocross. Up to eight people start simultaneously on a 300 to 450-meter course, and it has spread worldwide due to its dynamic riding style where competitors vie for the finishing order. It was adopted as an official Olympic event starting with the 2008 Beijing Olympics and is a popular sport around the world.
