The 2026 JBMXF Daito Kentaku Series, organized by the Japan BMX Federation, has opened at the Kasagoka Solar Plaza BMX Cycling Course in Kasagoka City, Okayama Prefecture.

On Saturday, April 10th, the day before the finals and an official practice day, the NAGASAKO OPEN was held in the afternoon.

This race, named after Mr. Yoshitaka Nagasako, the official ambassador of the Japan BMX Federation, adopts a unique format that has been held since last year's final race. To provide the fun of competing in races without focusing solely on winning or losing, it employs only four categories and has been conducted as a men's and women's open event since this year. This allows many riders to participate in the same category, aiming to promote skill improvement through competition. Furthermore, by allowing challenges in higher categories, riders can experience racing against competitors at a level above their own. Although the NAGASAKO OPEN does not affect the annual rankings, the Japan BMX Federation positions it as an important race that pursues the enjoyment of BMX racing and aims to elevate the overall level of riders.

In the 15 and Over Open category, where riders from the Challenge category challenge Championship category riders, Yuwa Sakamoto took the victory.

What is BMX Racing?

BMX is a sport that originated in the United States in the 1970s when children imitated motorcycle motocross. It has spread worldwide due to its dynamic riding style, where up to 8 riders start simultaneously on a 300-450 meter course, competing for position. From this free-form sport, Freestyle BMX also emerged. BMX racing became an official medal sport at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and is now a globally popular sport. The Japan BMX Federation was established in 1984 and actively organizes BMX racing competitions and promotes the sport.
