The Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter referred to as JATA) is collaborating with the co-creation project "GO GLOBAL PROJECT" (Organizer: Shibuya Future Design) to support overseas experiences for young people.

In conjunction with the reduction of passport fees starting July 1, we will launch initiatives using visuals of the globally active dance vocal group "Atarashii Gakko no Leaders," who have been appointed as ambassadors for the "GO GLOBAL PROJECT." This aims to foster momentum and promote overseas travel for the next generation of young people to venture out into the world.

This video was created with the cooperation of JATA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Japan National Tourism Organization. Through these visuals, we will widely publicize support measures by government and industry, such as the reduction of passport fees, registration for "Tabi-Regi" (essential for travel safety), and enrollment in overseas travel insurance, to support young people challenging themselves overseas through "safe and secure overseas travel."

Background and Objectives of Project Collaboration

Currently, Japan's passport ownership rate remains around 18%, posing a significant challenge to the full recovery of overseas travel by Japanese citizens. International exchange is fundamentally a two-way street, and the recovery of overseas travel by Japanese people is indispensable for the maintenance and expansion of international flight routes. More importantly, the decline in overseas travel among young people could affect Japan's international competitiveness in a global society.

JATA signed a public partner agreement with Shibuya Future Design in October 2025 and has been exploring approaches to foster international awareness among young people. By welcoming "Atarashii Gakko no Leaders," who continue to challenge themselves on the world stage and are overwhelmingly supported by young people, as ambassadors for the "GO GLOBAL PROJECT," and by disseminating the appeal of overseas travel as an industry united with member companies and related organizations, we will create a strong driving force towards achieving the goal of "20 million overseas travelers by 2030."

<About Shibuya Future Design> https://fds.or.jp/

Shibuya Future Design was established in 2018 as a public-private-academic collaboration organization to design solutions to social issues and possibilities through open innovation by gathering ideas and talents from diverse people gathered in Shibuya, with the aim of creating Shibuya, a world-leading experimental city for a future full of diversity. As part of its initiatives, it launched the co-creation project "GO GLOBAL PROJECT" with the aim of creating opportunities for young people to venture out into the world as a society. It supports experiences of "challenging overseas" through any entry point, such as overseas travel, study abroad, internships, entrepreneurship, volunteer work, culture, arts, and sports, aiming not only to support travel but also to foster the growth of young people and bring about a change in societal awareness through these challenges.
