KFC is committed to expanding its lineup of side and drink menus, in addition to chicken and burgers, with the desire to be more accessible and available for various daily occasions. The newly introduced "Chururii" is a new series developed with the aim of creating new reasons for customers to visit during snack time.

Targeting younger generations, KFC is challenging the drink category by combining visual appeal and interesting texture. By combining "chururun" crushed lemon jelly with a lemonade soda base, which is familiar at KFC, it achieves a refreshingly fizzy yet uniquely enjoyable drinking experience.

"Chururun" texture × refreshingly fizzy carbonation creates a new sensation drinking experience

The crushed lemon jelly at the bottom has a distinctive elastic "chururun" texture. When combined with the refreshing carbonation of each flavor's lemonade soda, it delivers a new drink experience that can be enjoyed not only for its taste but also for its texture. The jelly, made with lemon juice and lemon peel, provides a refreshing accent amidst the sweetness of each flavor, allowing you to enjoy it without getting tired until the end.

Naming with "cuteness" and familiarity

The product name "Chururii" was chosen to intuitively convey the "chururun" texture of the jelly. By using hiragana, it expresses the cuteness of the sound, memorability, and familiarity. It's a name that makes you want to pick it up and feel a sense of closeness.

Developing a drink using jelly was our company's first challenge in approximately 14 years. Therefore, we proceeded with development by carefully verifying each process, from ingredient specification design to operational considerations.

The most challenging part was adjusting the syrup. We meticulously adjusted the balance of flavor, color, and specific gravity for each flavor while assessing its compatibility with the lemon jelly. Through such trial and error, we were able to achieve a new drink experience that simultaneously offers visual enjoyment, taste, and the "chururun" texture.

First, enjoy the "chururun" texture of the jelly at the bottom of the cup.

Then, lightly stir with a straw and combine with the lemonade soda to enjoy the refreshingly fizzy drinking experience.

The ability to enjoy two ways with one drink is also a charm of "Chururii."
