Box Announces New Box Agent to Transform How Companies Work With Content

• Applying advanced AI models to unstructured data to autonomously execute end-to-end tasks

• New enhancements to Box AI Studio enable the creation of custom agents for complex, multi-step business processes

Box, Inc. (NYSE:BOX), a leader in the Intelligent Content Management (ICM) platform, today announced the general availability of Box Agent, an AI capability that reasons based on natural language instructions to perform complex tasks. This will revolutionize how enterprises utilize unstructured data. Box Agent leverages the latest advanced reasoning models to securely search enterprise files, analyze and integrate critical data, and generate new content. All of these processes are performed in compliance with Box's enterprise-grade security, governance, and permission management. Additionally, enhancements to Box AI Studio were announced, allowing administrators to develop custom agents for complex use cases specific to their business operations.

Box Agent Arrives

Leveraging advanced AI capabilities from leaders like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, the new Box Agent fundamentally transforms how enterprises take action on their content. Box Agent autonomously understands user intent based on their input, identifies the necessary and appropriate content to execute a task, determines the work to be done, and iterates until it appropriately meets the user's request. All of these processes occur within Box AI's new conversational interface. Users can revisit past sessions, iterate and refine their work, or resume from where they left off.

New Box Agent enables enterprises to achieve the following:

• Search entire content libraries, providing clear and concise answers based on enterprise data, with cited sources to ensure transparency and trust

• Create new files in multiple formats, including Box Notes, Word documents, PDFs, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations, enabling users to quickly generate reports, presentations, and other business documents

• Analyze specific files selected by the user, such as contracts and reports, generating structured analysis, comparisons, and summaries based solely on their content

• Interpret natural language questions, expanding the search scope to consider organizational terminology, relevance, and recency to improve the quality of results

• Complete multi-step tasks, such as automatically finding relevant files, extracting key information, and generating consistent reports, all within a single flow

• Synthesize complex documents and collections of files into clear, actionable insights, aiding users in quickly understanding critical information and making informed decisions

Designed with enterprise security at its core, Box Agent generates responses by referencing only files to which the user has access. It does not use customer proprietary data to train third-party large language models, enabling enterprises to achieve AI adoption with trusted security and proper access controls. By leveraging Box Agent's autonomous capabilities, enterprises can:

• Legal departments can review contracts more quickly and swiftly identify deviations from standard terms. As a first pass, Box Agent can compare contracts against a playbook of standard clauses, focusing on the most critical exceptions.

• Procurement departments can process invoices and vendor documents at scale. By analyzing invoices, contracts, and purchase records, Box Agent can reveal critical fields and flag discrepancies, accelerating approval processes, reducing errors, and enabling faster, data-driven purchasing decisions.

• Human Resources departments can create personalized onboarding schedules. Box Agent can search for handbooks and roadmaps relevant to each role and synthesize the requirements for those positions into a schedule, helping new hires onboard faster and reducing manual workload for HR.

• Sales departments can automate complex RFP responses using Box Agent with Pro Mode. Sales engineers can upload lengthy RFP documents, and Box Agent will automatically find relevant compliance guides and whitepapers to generate high-quality drafts in minutes, reducing manual effort and accelerating deal cycles.

• Marketing departments can create complex brand-related assets with Pro Mode. By connecting Box Agent to product requirement documents, messaging briefs, templates, and brand guidelines, marketers can generate content such as datasheets and launch blogs that align with their company's tone and visual style.

Box also announced enhancements to Box AI Studio, enabling users to create custom AI agents for repeatable, high-stakes workflows. Administrators can customize agents based on specific business rules, knowledge, and datasets to configure their own Box Agents. The revamped Box AI Studio allows for the implementation of expertise at scale, ensuring complex tasks can be executed with consistency and accuracy across the organization.

Product Packaging and Availability

The new Box Agent is available starting today for customers on Enterprise Plus and Enterprise Advanced plans. The ability to create new files in multiple formats, including Word documents, PDFs, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations, will be available in beta for Enterprise Advanced plan customers. Additionally, Enterprise Advanced users will have access to two powerful features of Box Agent: "Pro Mode" and "Extended Mode."

Pro Mode allows Box Agent to leverage higher levels of thinking, applying advanced logic for complex planning and execution tasks.

Extended Mode expands the context window to process large volumes of content within a single prompt, enabling Box Agent to execute large, multi-step workloads without hitting operational limits.

Enhancements to Box AI Studio are also generally available today for customers on Enterprise Advanced plans.
