JAPAN AX PROJECT Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Sapporo, Hokkaido; Representative Director: Masashi Yamada), which develops mural (wall painting) art from multiple perspectives, will implement the mural (wall painting) production project "SAPPORO XMURAL 2026" in the redevelopment area around Sapporo Station, co-hosted with Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo's art project "Red & Black Canvas" (commonly known as "Akakuro Canvas"), which celebrates the club's 30th anniversary, starting from May 11 (Monday), 2026.

■ Theme and Highlights of this Project

The production stage for this event is "SAPPORO CULTURE FARM / anaBa," an urban culture farm along Ekimae-dori in Sapporo. Six domestic and international artists will gather to publicly create murals simultaneously.

〇 Temporary Enclosure Mural (1 location): The theme is the harmony of "people," "snow," and "greenery" advocated by Sapporo. Animals living in Hokkaido's rich nature will be expressed in a new style using Consadole's "red and black" colors.

〇 anaBa Murals (5 locations): To fully express the artists' sensibilities, no unified theme has been set. Pure, unrestricted art will be integrated into the public space of Sapporo's regularly laid-out city center. This location allows for the creation of an extremely free and rare space.

■ Background of Implementation: The Potential of "Redevelopment x Art" Proven by Murals

【2024 Achievement: From Inanimate Walls to City Landmarks】

The Sapporo Station area is undergoing large-scale redevelopment in anticipation of the Shinkansen extension.

In September 2024, Japan's largest mural art, approximately 100m long, was created next to Sapporo Station. It went beyond being a mere wall painting, with many citizens and tourists stopping to admire and converse. Through this initiative, we realized that "the inanimate process inevitably caused by redevelopment can be transformed into positive value through the power of mural art."

Furthermore, Hokkaido and Sapporo, with their vast land, rich nature, and diverse people, are considered to be "the best environment for mural production" for artists worldwide.

Through the 2024 project, mural art, which is becoming a trend in Japan, has begun to be accepted in Sapporo as "a new culture that colors daily life." We believe that to foster the development of this city's culture and art, it is essential to leverage the characteristic of murals that anyone can appreciate them by integrating them into everyday scenery.

【2026: A New Challenge to Expand the "Red & Black Circle" through Art】

Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo, celebrating its 30th anniversary, deeply resonated with our "redevelopment x mural art" initiative. As a result, their participation and co-hosting of this project have been decided as the first phase of their anniversary project, "Red & Black Canvas."

JAPAN AX PROJECT aims to fulfill Consadole's club purpose, "Connect Hokkaido's dreams with the Red & Black Circle," together with the power of mural art.

Not only for soccer fans but for all people passing through the city, we will transform the "process of change" that is redevelopment into a "process of creation" that can be proudly shared with the world.
