JAPAN AI Inc. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Tomoaki Kudo; hereinafter "JAPAN AI") announces that it has invested in CONOC Inc. (Headquarters: Tama City, Tokyo; Representative Director: Hajime Yamaguchi; hereinafter "CONOC"), which promotes DX in the construction industry and is working to realize business transformation through AI utilization (AX: AI Transformation). Concurrently, the companies have commenced a business alliance for the joint development of AI agent services for the construction industry.
### Background of the Business Alliance
JAPAN AI, with its Purpose of "Creating a sustainable future society with AI," has been providing, developing, and supporting the penetration of AI platforms for hundreds of companies.
Despite being a core industry with a market size of 75 trillion yen (*1) and 4.77 million workers (*2), Japan's construction industry has a DX adoption rate of only 20.7% (*3) for business management and an AI utilization rate of 9.4% (*4). Many operations, such as見積 (estimation),請求 (invoicing),工程管理 (process management), and現場日報 (site daily reports), are still managed using paper or analog methods, leading to a long-standing issue of heavy workload for on-site personnel and reliance on individual expertise.
In response to these challenges, CONOC has been providing cloud services specialized for the construction industry. While serving over 777 construction businesses, it has also been promoting the in-house development of a group of AI agents specialized in construction tasks, such as estimate OCR, daily report generation, and process optimization, by leveraging accumulated operational data and industry knowledge. This alliance aims to further accelerate the realization of this AI agent concept by collaborating with JAPAN AI, which has strengths in AI development platforms, from both technological and implementation perspectives.
