The Japan Network for Public Interest Activities (JANPIA; location: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Masaya Ninomiya) has launched an 'Application Support Program' for organizations considering applying to the 2026 grant program (regular funding) for fund-distributing organizations, implemented based on the Act on Utilization of Dormant Deposits.

This program aims to provide necessary information and support to fund-distributing organizations at the pre-application stage of the grant program, thereby promoting understanding of the system and enhancing the quality of application content.

■ Background

The Act on Utilization of Dormant Deposits is a system that supports private public interest activities to promote the resolution of social issues that are difficult for the government to address alone.

However, regarding the utilization of the system, there are voices expressing that:

・The content of the system is difficult to understand.

・There is anxiety about preparing the application form.

・It is difficult to determine if their own organization is eligible.

Many organizations feel hurdles at the pre-application stage. This program provides information and support to organizations considering applying to be fund-distributing organizations for the grant program. It helps them confirm whether their project content aligns with the requirements and objectives of this system at the pre-application stage and identify points for brushing up their project content, thereby leading to an improvement in the quality of applications.
