Jamf (Minneapolis, MN), the standard in management and security for Apple devices in enterprises and organizations, will begin offering its "AI Governance" feature for Mac environments on June 30, 2026, to address new security and governance challenges arising from the expanding use of AI in businesses. This will enable visualization and control of AI tools used by employees, as well as proof of governance compliance. Jamf is the first in the world to offer this Mac-native "AI Governance" that operates at the OS level.

"AI Governance" Feature Launched to Visualize and Control AI Tools

As businesses rapidly improve operational efficiency through AI adoption, challenges such as lack of visibility and increased management complexity are becoming apparent. In fact, a recent AI Governance survey conducted by Jamf this year targeting 687 IT security leaders revealed that while approximately 70% of companies have adopted AI, about 1 in 5 companies (22%) have experienced AI-related incidents, including cost and security issues. As AI adoption increases productivity, control through AI governance is also becoming crucial.

To solve these challenges, Jamf is launching the general availability of "AI Governance" as a new feature of "Jamf for Mac," an all-in-one solution that supports everything from device management to security measures. With "AI Governance," IT and security departments can detect AI tools used within the organization, enforce access policies, and generate reports for audit purposes. It also features a Mac-native design that operates at the OS level, providing an integrated solution for AI governance control.

At launch, it will support Claude Code, Claude Desktop, and OpenAI Codex, enabling a wide range of setting management for AI usage, including access control, network permissions, file system control, and MCP server restrictions. Furthermore, a vendor control tracking engine continuously detects new and updated control items for supported AI platforms. This allows companies to keep their governance policies up-to-date while adapting to the evolution of AI tools.

Key Features of "AI Governance"

AI tools commonly run directly on Apple silicon or operate in the background. Therefore, traditional network proxies and cross-platform management tools struggle to adequately visualize and control the usage of AI tools. Moreover, no integrated solution has existed to achieve this until now.

Jamf's "AI Governance" introduces a mechanism within the device management platform that administrators use daily to apply vendor-recommended AI configurations natively in a short amount of time. This resolves the aforementioned challenges of visualizing and controlling AI tools used on Macs.

Jamf's "AI Governance" offers three main features:

(1) Visualization of Usage Status ~ Grasping the Reality of AI Usage That Is Difficult to See ~

With AI application visualization and shadow AI detection capabilities, it is possible to understand the usage status of AI tools, agents, LLM runtimes (including background agents), etc. This allows for visualization of AI tool usage within the organization without introducing new agents.

(2) Control of Appropriate Usage ~ Governing AI Usage Based on Rules ~

By setting AI access policies, organizations can define approved AI tools and apply access policies across the entire company. Furthermore, various security levels can be applied, including three default security states: "High Security," "Balanced," and "For Developers," enabling flexible management according to department or usage scenario. It also allows for the bulk application of vendor-recommended configuration settings, efficiently realizing consistent policy operation across the entire organization.

(3) Governance Reports ~ Managing AI Usage Status at the Management Level ~

It is possible to generate management-level reports visualizing AI usage status, providing CIOs and CISOs with an overview of AI utilization across the organization. This contributes to decision-making and the establishment of risk management systems not only at the operational level but also at the management level. Additionally, it supports integration with SIEM, enabling audits and reporting based on existing compliance requirements.

Jamf's AI Governance feature is currently available with "Jamf for Mac."

Challenges and Countermeasures in AI Governance Revealed by Survey

Recently, as the use of AI tools in business operations rapidly advances, the importance of AI governance for properly managing and controlling AI tool usage is increasing. A 2026 Jamf survey of 687 IT and security leaders revealed that companies deeply integrating AI into their operations have an approximately 40% higher incident rate compared to companies still in the consideration phase. This indicates a tendency for risks to increase as AI utilization progresses.

Given this situation, AI governance is no longer a future consideration but an operational necessity.

Reality of AI Utilization in Businesses

The survey revealed the following points regarding the reality of AI utilization in businesses:

(1) Growing Importance of Governance Alongside AI Adoption

The following three items are listed as priority areas for AI domain development in companies over the next 12 months:

Automation of IT operations (44.4%)

Introduction of AI productivity support tools (41.0%)

Establishment of AI governance (36.7%)

These results show that companies are working to strengthen governance concurrently with improving productivity through AI.

(2) Key Challenges Revealed

The survey also highlighted the following challenges accompanying the expansion of AI utilization:

Understanding usage status due to unapproved AI tool usage (shadow AI)

Increased management complexity due to the rise of developer tools and automation AI

Increased complexity in selection and control due to the growing number of tools with AI functionality

Reduced accuracy in cost management due to the difficulty in visualizing usage status

AI Adoption Enters the Next Phase

This survey indicates that AI utilization in businesses has moved beyond the stage of "whether to adopt" to "how to utilize while managing." As AI becomes integrated into various areas of business, systems, and devices, IT and security departments are required to understand which AI tools are being used, how they are being used, and what data they are accessing. To safely expand AI utilization, establishing a system that can accurately grasp these situations and appropriately control them is indispensable.

Gartner® predicts that "spending on AI governance will reach $492 million in 2026 and exceed $1 billion by 2030, as organizations review the tools and strategies needed to get ahead of regulatory and operational risks."*

Against this market backdrop, companies are accelerating efforts to balance AI utilization with governance.

Jamf will contribute to corporate growth and the promotion of safe AI utilization by supporting the use of Apple devices in the AI era through AI governance.
