JAL JTA Sales Co., Ltd. (Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture; President: Masanori Nakane; hereinafter 'JJS') and JALUX Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Toshiaki Kasai; hereinafter 'JALUX') will start a new direct-from-farm project to air-transport 'fresh tuna' produced in Okinawa Prefecture without freezing it even once, delivering it with high freshness to stores centered around the Tokyo metropolitan area. The tuna transported in this project will be sold at select Seijo Ishii stores (*2) starting Friday, April 10, in special packaging affixed with the 'Delivered from the Sky' logo (*1).

The waters around Okinawa Prefecture are an excellent fishing ground blessed by the Kuroshio Current, where high-quality tuna is landed throughout the year. While fresh raw tuna is routinely distributed within Okinawa Prefecture, awareness outside the prefecture is not yet sufficient. In this project, landed tuna is processed locally with skilled techniques and sold at stores in the metropolitan area within 24 hours of packaging. This is the result of combining high-speed and efficient cold transport through JALCARGO's high-quality handling, an initiative contributing to improving the brand value and expanding the sales channels of Okinawan products.

This project was realized by integrating Seijo Ishii's desire to have customers taste the deliciousness of Okinawan 'fresh tuna', Sakashita Suisan Co., Ltd. (Itoman City, Okinawa Prefecture)'s purchasing power through expert connoisseurship and advanced processing technology, and the JAL Group's air transport technology utilizing cold storage containers that maintain freshness without using ice.

## ■ Key Points of This Project

(1) Branding of Okinawa 'Fresh Tuna' and establishing a new farm-direct business model
Although the waters near Okinawa are one of the few major production areas for 'fresh tuna' nationwide, the recognition of 'Okinawa = tuna' is currently insufficient. By utilizing air cargo transport to deliver it to the metropolitan area while maintaining freshness without freezing, we will widely convey the value of Okinawan 'fresh tuna' and establish a new farm-direct business model.

(2) Delivered to stores maintaining freshness through local processing and ice-free transportation
