Japan Airlines (JAL) began accepting applications for the 'Tsunagaru, 2-chiiki Kurashi 2026' dual-residence program on Friday, July 17, 2026. This program allows participants to experience a dual-residence lifestyle while reducing travel costs through JAL mileage accumulation.

In fiscal 2026, the program has significantly expanded to cover 36 regions nationwide, offering a more diverse and attractive experience. From this year, operations will be managed by KANTSUNA, a new company specializing in matching regional areas with dual-residents, ensuring professional and efficient management tailored to regional needs.

JAL Group aims to foster well-being by facilitating the sharing of resources and co-creating 'connections' between individuals, businesses, and local communities. By promoting dual-residence, JAL not only contributes to regional revitalization by increasing the number of active participants in local areas but also aims to improve personal well-being by fostering continuous connections.

In fiscal 2025, JAL pilot-tested this program with 6 municipalities. Applications reached approximately three times the planned capacity, and post-program surveys indicated that participants' well-being scores were 1.5 points higher than the national average.

This year, the program expands to 36 municipalities. Participants receive JAL mile support for their travel costs to the target region, applicable to their next visit. The program also offers 'Tsunagari Experience Menus' to facilitate local engagement.

KANTSUNA, the program administrator, is designated as a designated housing support corporation by over 20 municipalities and is focused on building a 'regional social implementation matching support model.' Together, JAL and KANTSUNA are committed to enhancing well-being through dual-residence.
