JAL Group is actively promoting inbound and outbound travel between Japan and overseas countries as part of its initiative to expand "connections through mobility," not only within Japan but also internationally.

While inbound tourist numbers have recently reached record highs, the number of Japanese traveling abroad has yet to recover to pre-pandemic levels. Additionally, Japan's passport ownership rate remains low at 18.4% (*1), and there are growing concerns about younger generations becoming increasingly disengaged from overseas travel. To foster globally minded human resources with international perspectives, it is essential to encourage more Japanese citizens to travel abroad.

In response to this situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to lower passport application fees effective July 1, 2026. As Japan's leading airline, JAL Group will support this initiative by launching three collaborative measures under the "Motto! Overseas" campaign (*2), working together with public and private sectors to support Japanese outbound travel during the summer of 2026.

Three Collaborative Initiatives of "Motto! Overseas"

(1) Launch of Special Website "Motto! Overseas"

Aligned with JATA's "Motto! Overseas" campaign (*2), a dedicated website will be launched to comprehensively support customers' overseas travel plans. The site will feature information on campaigns offering mileage giveaways, international flight sales, tour packages, and more.

(3) Child Fare Discount: "Kids 55 Guam Fare"

On October 1, 2025, JAL will celebrate the 55th anniversary of its Guam route. To commemorate this milestone, child fares will be discounted by 55% (*3).
