JAF to Host 'Challenge-Oriented' Scholarship Event for Job-Hunting Students

JAF (Japan Automobile Federation, President Masayoshi Sakaguchi) will host a workshop-style scholarship event for university students currently engaged in job hunting (those scheduled to graduate in 2028), challenging them to address social issues.

This program is not about competing on knowledge or perfection, but an experiential initiative that emphasizes the attitude of thinking for oneself and taking on challenges (i.e., an adventurous spirit). Participants will experience firsthand how to generate ideas and devise solutions to solve social issues using their own abilities.

Applications for this program will open on Thursday, March 26, 2026, and the workshop will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

Background of the Project

For over 60 years, JAF has provided road services in Japan, supporting the safety and security of automobile users. Furthermore, its membership exceeded 20.5 million as of April 2025, reaching an all-time high.

On the other hand, the value of mobility has changed significantly, and the automotive industry is facing a period of transformation said to occur 'once in a century'.

Amidst these environmental changes, JAF is committed to creating new value, not limited to its traditional framework, but as an entity that supports the lives of all people involved in mobility. In fact, challenging initiatives conceived by young employees are gradually taking shape.

Therefore, we launched this program because we want to support young people, who will bear the future of society, in gaining experience in formulating their own questions by continuing to challenge themselves without fear of failure.

Content

Freely brainstorm solutions to social issues facing Japanese society, utilizing JAF's resources.

Discuss in groups of 5 (participants randomly assigned by organizers), summarize ideas, and present them.

*We value the approach to issues, the ideation process, and the challenging spirit, rather than the perfection or correctness of ideas.

About Scholarships

・1st place group: 80,000 yen

・2nd place group: 50,000 yen

・3rd place group: 30,000 yen

・Groups 4th place and below: 2,500 yen per participant

*Rankings determined by judges and participants' votes.

*Scholarships will be awarded to all participants, supporting the experience of challenging itself.
