[JAF Fukui] Usui High School's Traffic Safety Activities Include Seatbelt Effectiveness Experience

JAF (Japan Automobile Federation) Fukui Branch (Branch Manager Shintaro Ukita) will collaborate with students from Fukui Prefectural Usui High School on April 11 (Saturday) at Shopping City Bell (Hanado Minami, Fukui City) to promote traffic safety activities as part of their research project, aiming to increase seatbelt wearing rates and raise awareness of the importance of seatbelts in all seats.

This activity is planned and implemented by students of Fukui Prefectural Usui High School as part of their research on 'seatbelts,' with the goal of improving seatbelt wearing rates.

In the 'National Seatbelt Wearing Survey' conducted jointly by JAF and the National Police Agency in 2025, Fukui Prefecture's rear seatbelt wearing rate (on general roads) was 44.4% (national average 45.8%), which is below the national average, highlighting the challenge of seatbelt wearing in all seats, including the rear.

On the day of the event, high school students and JAF staff will call out to visitors, offering a seatbelt effectiveness experience vehicle for a 5km/h collision simulation and a traffic safety quiz rally, allowing participants to learn about traffic safety in an enjoyable way.

JAF Fukui Branch will continue to work with local communities and educational institutions to promote the importance of seatbelts in all seats to prevent injuries from traffic accidents.
