Event Overview and Results

The Japan Association for the World Food Programme (UN WFP) held 'WFP Walk the World 2026 Nagoya' on Sunday, June 7.

This charity event, aimed at eliminating hunger among children in developing nations, saw 1,183 participants walk from Tsuruma Park through Nagoya city, united in their commitment to support. A portion of the entry fees will be donated to the 'School Meals Support' program implemented by the UN WFP.

Including additional donations solicited during registration, a total of 1,377,100 yen was raised, with an additional 14,330 yen collected in donations at the venue. These contributions will provide school meals to approximately 46,000 children in developing countries.

● Hiroshi Ando, Chairman of the Japan Association for the UN WFP "This support through charity walking is a crucial effort for the future. Peace cannot be maintained without effort, and your participation carries significant meaning," he stated, expressing gratitude to participants, sponsors, and volunteers.

● Hitoki Iwase, Former Professional Baseball Player/Baseball Commentator "Let's walk happily and energetically today for the world's children, and deliver nutrition and hope," he encouraged the participants.

[UN WFP School Meals Support] The UN WFP provides school meals to approximately 20 million children annually in developing countries. A donation of about 30 yen can provide a meal for one child.
