ITOKI Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Hiroshi Minato) announces the development of "ITOKI OFFICE DEVICES," a device solution that enables advanced operations by acquiring actual usage data within the office space using AI through sensors linked to office furniture. This solution senses "how furniture and meeting rooms are actually being used" in real-time, links with office resource reservation data, visualizes operational status, and improves office utilization rates and convenience.

To coincide with the renovation of the 12th floor of our headquarters office, "ITOKI DESIGN HOUSE TOKYO," we have implemented prototypes in solo seats and team seats, and they are now operational. Customer provision is scheduled to begin within the year. By collaborating with our AI agent "ITOKI OFFICE AI AGENTS," we will strengthen the Office 3.0 domain, supporting data-driven improvements in office productivity through autonomous and high-cycle office operations.

Office Operation Challenges Revealed by Return-to-Office Trends

As the return-to-office trend progresses, office spaces are becoming more cramped, exacerbating issues such as "meeting rooms and booths that are not in use being booked," "booking an 8-person room for only 4 people," "not knowing the next reservation status when wanting to extend," and "wanting to know if the room in front is available." These office usage challenges are becoming more apparent, leading to employee stress and decreased productivity.

Improving Office Operations by Acquiring "Actual Usage Data"

"ITOKI OFFICE DEVICES" evolves office spaces and furniture themselves into points of data acquisition through box-type or chair-specific devices. AI acquires and visualizes the actual usage status of various office resources such as meeting rooms, solo seats, and team seats through label displays and other means. It also adjusts based on feedback, supporting the effective utilization of limited office space and operational improvements.

Data to be acquired includes start/end of use, occupancy/unoccupancy, duration of stay, and number of users. For example, if a vacant reservation occurs where no one is seated at the reserved time, the sensor detects it, immediately notifies the reservation holder about availability, and if the reservation holder releases it, the reservation is canceled, making it easier for the next user to book the seat or space. Similarly, reservations are smartly released when use ends early.

Prototype Implemented on the 12th Floor of Headquarters

Office Label

Office Box

Office Sensor

On the 12th floor of our headquarters (approx. 2700 sqm), we have implemented the distance sensor "Office Sensor" and the "Office Label" for displaying usage status in the "Team Co-work Zone," which is ideal for the "Team Co-work" work style of sharing places and time with the team. Additionally, "Office Box," which combines a presence sensor and usage status display, has been introduced in 5 meeting rooms. The meeting rooms are constructed with glass materials, and a feature is that the presence sensor only reacts to users inside the room, balancing the design of the glass space with functionality. Furthermore, "Office Sensor" is installed in a total of 18 solo seats, promoting fair use of solo seats equipped with monitors.

Office Furniture as a "Data Acquisition Point"

We categorize office usage data into four layers: "Layer 0: Office Layout," "Layer 1: Office Furniture," "Layer 2: Office Equipment (humidity, temperature data, etc.)," and "Layer 3: Working People (individual data)." "ITOKI OFFICE DEVICES" marks a full-scale initiative to acquire usage data for "office furniture," which falls under Layer 1.

In the future, we plan to link the acquired actual usage data with existing applications such as the meeting room reservation system "Reserve Any" through our Office 3.0 AI agent "ITOKI OFFICE AI AGENTS," announced in February 2026. By continuously analyzing office space usage trends and operational challenges, we aim to solve office space problems and improve convenience.

ITOKI will evolve office spaces and furniture into data acquisition points, and by combining this with accumulated operational data within offices and employee condition data, we will more precisely grasp the actual usage of space, supporting both the improvement of utilization rates in limited office spaces and the enhancement of the working experience.

* "ITOKI OFFICE DEVICES" is a prototype as of June 2026. Proposal start is planned within the year. Pricing is currently undecided.
