Wataru Ujihara (Vo, Gt), Yasushi Akatsuka (Ba, Cho), and Keisaku Morita (Dr, Cho) gathered and formed in Fukuoka. DOES means DOE (female deer).
2006
DOES's activities in Fukuoka, including a two-man live with Shigeru Suzuki of former Happy End, became known to major record label productions in Tokyo, leading to a bidding war and their major debut with Ki/oon Records.
On September 6, they released their debut single "Ashita wa Kuru no ka."
2007
The single "Shura," used as the ending theme for the TV Tokyo anime "Gintama," debuted at 9th place on Oricon. Their overwhelming live performance reputation was high, and they subsequently became regulars at major festivals across Japan, including "ARABAKI ROCK FES," "ROCK IN JAPAN," and "RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL in EZO FES."
2008
Their first single, "Donten," was released on June 18. It debuted at 3rd place on Oricon, their highest ranking ever. Digital downloads (Chaku-Uta® etc.) exceeded 200,000, which was exceptional for a rock band.
2009
They were selected to appear and perform a song in the highly successful movie "Crows ZERO II" (directed by Takashi Miike, starring Shun Oguri), which grossed over 3 billion yen. With a strong recommendation from renowned film producer Mataichiro Yamamoto, they performed one song in the film. Director Miike, who also attended DOES's live performances and communicated with them numerous times on set, commented on DOES: "They are a beautiful band with an unadorned purity. That's what I think 'DOES' is. The scent of bare steel wet with rain is comforting. That's why 'DOES' is here. Listen with your bare ears. You too will become bare." This comment was electrifying.
2010
Their latest single, "Bakuchi Dancer," released on April 21, debuted at 3rd place on Oricon and remained in the TOP 10 for three consecutive weeks. It was a massive hit, selling over 100,000 copies, which is unusual for a single. They made a live appearance on TV Asahi's "Music Station." Their national tour "Doppo Angya ~Shohoteki Shodo-hen~," which started on May 15, sold out in all locations. Afterwards, a music video collection DVD "CLIP" was released in June.
