iRobot Japan Launches 'Roomba® Plus 515 Combo', a Slim and Compact Model with Powerful Suction for the Japanese Market

iRobot Japan G.K. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo / President: Takeshi Yamada) will launch the 'Roomba® Plus 515 Combo Robot + AutoWash™ Charging Station' on Friday, May 29, at authorized retailers participating in the Roomba Premium Benefits program and on the official iRobot online store nationwide.

This product is the second installment of the 'for Japan' Roomba series, following the 'Roomba Mini' which was released in February this year and received a great response. It inherits the compact design highly praised in the 'Roomba Mini,' with a 46% reduction in volume compared to the Roomba Plus 505 Combo. It is equipped with optimized size and functions to fit Japanese homes, meeting the needs of customers who demand high-level cleaning.

The slim and compact design, with a height of 8.4cm and a maximum width of 30.3cm, allows it to enter spaces previously unreachable by conventional robot vacuums, such as under low sofas and in the toe-kick areas of kitchen cabinets, significantly expanding the cleanable area.

Furthermore, with its movable edge-cleaning brush featuring PerfectEdge® Technology and an extendable mop pad, it thoroughly vacuums and mops every corner of the room. The suction power is three times stronger than previous models*1, and the depth of the multifunctional AutoWash Charging Station is also about 10cm more compact than that of the Roomba Plus 505 Combo.

In conjunction with this product launch, we will also start the 'Roomba Premium Benefits,' a concierge service that is a first in the domestic cleaner industry*2. The Roomba Premium Benefits provide an environment for long-term, worry-free use by offering an extension of the manufacturer's warranty period, a dedicated hotline to specialized operators, and included consumables. By embedding the newly developed LiDAR 'Integrated Line Laser' into the front of the robot, we have achieved a slimness of 8.4cm. This sensor, a world-first for a robot vacuum*3, maps the room in less than 10 minutes*4 with high-precision navigation, accurately maneuvering day or night while detecting and avoiding obstacles*5. The movable edge-cleaning brush with PerfectEdge Technology and the retractable DualClean mop pads, which rotate at 180 rpm, ensure thorough cleaning right up to walls and corners.

2. High-level cleaning with powerful suction 3 times stronger than previous models*1 and strong mopping.
Equipped with a 4-stage cleaning system featuring a tangle-resistant rubber single-action brush, a movable edge-cleaning brush, and retractable DualClean mop pads, its cleaning power is a standout feature with suction 3 times stronger than previous models*1. Furthermore, the robot has an onboard water tank for more efficient mopping, and using Smart Scrub mode doubles the scrubbing power*6 to thoroughly wipe up stubborn stains. It also has a floor sensor that automatically detects carpets and lifts the mop 10mm to avoid getting them wet.

3. AutoWash Charging Station with hot water washing and warm air drying for low maintenance.
The charging station, about 10cm smaller than the Roomba Plus 505 Combo's, features an automatic dirt disposal function that eliminates the need for emptying for about 3 months*7 and an automatic water refill function with a 20% larger water tank. The AutoWash™ Charging Station washes the mop pad with ~75°C hot water to suppress odors and thoroughly dries the mop with ~45°C warm air, so you can start each cleaning session with a clean, dry mop. Additionally, a self-cleaning cycle prevents dirt from accumulating inside the station.
