Industry's Smallest Footprint (※1) Fits in Any Gap! "W Slim Freezer 91L" Newly Launched from the Skimax Series

Iris Ohyama Inc. (Headquarters: Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture; President and Representative Director: Akihiro Oyama) will add the "W Slim Freezer 91L" to its "Skimax" slim freezer series, achieving the industry's smallest footprint (※1). The product will be sequentially released starting July 14, 2026, primarily through online sites and home centers nationwide (※2).

The "Skimax" series, launched in 2024 with the concept of "fits in gaps (SKIMA)" and "maximum capacity (MAX)," is a series of fan-cooled slim freezers. Amidst rising prices and a growing trend towards saving money, the demand for second freezers is increasing for storing bulk purchases of frozen foods, "furusato nozei" (hometown tax donation) return gifts, and pre-cooked meals. However, a survey conducted by our company regarding second freezers (※3) revealed complaints about installation space, such as "cannot install because the width or depth dimensions do not fit" and "no space in the kitchen."

The "W Slim Freezer 91L" being launched this time has a depth of approximately 40 cm, about 15 cm shorter than the width-slim type of previous models, reducing the installation footprint by approximately 28% and achieving the industry's smallest footprint (※1). This allows for easy installation even in limited spaces, such as next to a refrigerator or at an entrance. Its compact design eliminates the need for heat dissipation space on the left side, allowing it to be placed close to walls or furniture. Furthermore, it adopts a low-center-of-gravity design to address concerns about tipping due to its reduced footprint and tall body.

By using highly insulating vacuum insulation panels and reducing the wall thickness to approximately 3.5 cm, it achieves a storage capacity equivalent to about 2 shopping baskets (※4). The interior is equipped with three glass shelves from the top, three clear drawer-type cases, and one storage space, allowing for efficient and organized storage by separating storage locations according to the size of the ingredients.
