Iris Foods to Lower Wholesale Prices for "Teion Seihōmai no Oishii Gohan®" Packaged Rice

Iris Foods Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture; President: Toshinori Kitao), part of the Iris Group, will sequentially lower the wholesale prices for its packaged rice, "Teion Seihōmai no Oishii Gohan®" (Delicious Rice Made with Low-Temperature Manufacturing Method®), starting July 1, 2026, to support consumers' lives.

The company entered the rice milling business in 2013 with the aim of supporting disaster-stricken areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake and promoting agricultural recovery. Iris Foods handles everything from procurement of materials and brown rice to milling, distribution, and sales within the group. Furthermore, in May 2026, the company will begin participating in agriculture to address challenges such as an aging farming population and a shortage of successors, and is also working to establish a system for stable brown rice production in-house.

In 2025, amidst escalating domestic rice prices and supply concerns, Iris Foods was one of the first private companies to begin selling government-reserved rice through private contracts. Additionally, from the distribution of rice harvested in Reiwa 7 (2025), the company implemented a price reduction of up to 12.5% in response to persistently high rice prices. Furthermore, in March 2026, a campaign offering 10% more packaged rice was conducted, demonstrating a continued effort to alleviate the financial burden on consumers.

Amidst rising prices due to soaring raw material, material, and energy costs, the Consumer Price Index as of May 2026 stood at 113.5% compared to 2020 and 11.5% compared to the same month last year (※1), further increasing the financial strain on households. In light of this situation, as part of its consumer support initiatives, the company has decided to lower the wholesale prices of its packaged rice so that more consumers can easily obtain rice, an essential staple for everyday meals.

- Applicable Products: 120g / 150g / 180g / 200g / 250g / 300g

- Price Reduction Timing: Sequentially from July 1, 2026

Going forward, Iris Foods will continue to contribute to the promotion of domestic agriculture and the stable supply of rice, while also strengthening its food supply system to meet societal needs for food safety and security, and for reducing household expenses.
