Discovery of 100-year-old letters in Washin-mura

Today, I finally performed a ritual I had been wanting to do. While cleaning and renovating our 200-year-old traditional house in Washin-mura, we found many letters between the descendant of the Iijima family, Hachiro Iijima, and the previous owner. These letters were hidden in the beams of the house and are 100 years old. If we hadn't done a thorough cleaning, they would never have been found. Some were already crumbling due to age, but instead of treating them as trash, we felt they belonged to the original owners and were a gift and blessing to us. I treat the Iijima family as our ancestors and hope to preserve these letters along with the house, making them the beginning of the Washin-mura story. I plan to transcribe and translate them into a booklet as a prequel to the Washin-mura story. Fearing further deterioration, I have laminated them for now and will proceed to the next stage when I have time. These are all part of the story of Washin-mura.
