(President & CEO: Kenichi Shibata; hereinafter 'Tsuneishi Solutions Tokyo Bay'), has announced that it obtained Approval in Principle (AiP) from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) for the basic design of a rocket offshore recovery vessel.

*AiP (Approval in Principle): An initial approval in which a third-party certification body, such as a classification society, confirms that the design of a ship or facility is technically viable and that there are no major issues in terms of safety and regulations at the conceptual stage.

Details of the Approval and Future Prospects

This approval confirms the safety and technical feasibility of the entire offshore recovery system concept by ABS, a third-party organization. The system includes not only the rocket offshore recovery vessel but also the support vessels that assist in the recovery and the land-based control system that monitors and controls them in an integrated manner.

Establishing technology for recovering and launching rockets at sea is necessary from the perspective of realizing high-frequency space transportation with reusable rockets, which ISC aims for, and from the perspective of international competitiveness by maximizing Japan's geographical potential.
