Indonesia Research Institute Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Albertus Prasetio Her Nugroho; hereinafter "the Company") has been continuously entrusted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion Agency with the establishment and operation of the "Reiwa 8th Fiscal Year Tokyo SME Support Desk Indonesia."

This project is a public support service for Tokyo-based small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) aiming to expand into the rapidly growing Indonesian market, providing solutions for local business challenges. Building on the Company's extensive experience in supporting entry into Indonesia since its establishment in 2011, and the trust built with Tokyo's SMEs through two years of operating this project, the Company will continue to manage it this fiscal year.

Support Services of "Tokyo SME Support Desk Indonesia"

Based in Jakarta, this desk offers three main pillars of support tailored to the needs of Tokyo's SMEs, provided by expert staff well-versed in local business practices and legal regulations.

1. Business Partner Matching

We support finding reliable local partners by listing trustworthy agents, distributors, and collaborators, arranging business appointments, and accompanying clients in web meetings.

2. Provision of Local Business Information

We create simple survey reports (market overview, trends, competitors, related regulations, etc.) according to corporate requests, providing "raw" information essential for decision-making.

3. Management Consultation

We provide careful support and advice in Japanese for complex issues unique to Indonesia, such as import procedures, registration processes for establishing local corporations, legal regulations, and tax/accounting matters.

Background and Operational Structure

Indonesia is attracting global attention as an appealing market due to its abundant workforce and purchasing power, but language, culture, and business practice barriers remain high. Since its establishment in 2011, the Company has supported over 500 Japanese companies in their expansion into Indonesia. This fiscal year, with close collaboration between its Jakarta office (staffed by over 100 people) and Tokyo office, we will maximize local networks and specialized knowledge. We will back up the challenges of Tokyo's SMEs with an integrated support system, from market research to partner search.
