'How Professional Editors & Novelists Teach Creators to Write Novels That Win Awards' (Authored by Jin Hideshima) Released!
Since its foundation, indent has been committed to creating a comfortable environment for writers through the creative platform "Nola." To expand commercialization opportunities for over 2.5 million works born on "Nola," we launched the novel labels "Nola Books Glanz" and "Nola Books Bloom" in March 2025. After celebrating its first anniversary this year, we have now launched the comic labels "Nola Comics Glanz" and "Nola Comics Bloom" to further accelerate the cycle of delivering stories born from Nola to readers nationwide.
This book is the latest installment in Nihon Bungeisha's popular "Creator Series," a collaboration between the Nola editorial department (which runs the aforementioned labels) and novelist Jin Hideshima, who authors all titles in the Creator Series. It explains "how to write a novel to win an award." As part of our initiative to help the original works of the over 650,000 writers who support Nola reach the world, we hope this book will serve as a practical guide and help new talents take flight.
Moving forward, indent will continue to contribute to the further development and revitalization of Japan's entertainment and creative industries, with the key message "Maximize the potential of the content industry and produce works that captivate the world." We will do this by supporting writers' creative activities and aiming to "build a system where writing can be a livelihood, providing sufficient income."
◾️Nola Editorial Department Comment
There are broadly two types of people who create stories:
Those who want to write stories they love, and those who want to write works that are evaluated in the form of awards. This book is for the latter, that is, for those who write works aiming for awards. This book deals with the perspective of "how to make a work that gets selected."
At the Nola editorial department, we receive many manuscripts every day. All of them are earnestly written works, but only a few can pass the selection process. We feel that this is less about differences in ability and more about the fact that what editors look for when judging manuscripts is not sufficiently communicated, which leads to different outcomes.
We hope this book will be a reliable guide for creative work aimed at winning awards.
