Our company supports April Dream, an initiative to make April 1st a day for expressing dreams. This press release is the dream of "Il Co., Ltd."

Il Co., Ltd. ■Background

Smart devices and IoT devices are evolving daily. However, for the elderly, these are often avoided as being "difficult" or "irrelevant to me." Screens are small, operations are complex, and setup requires specialized knowledge. Such barriers leave behind the very people who most need the benefits of technology.

In 2025, more than 4.5 million elderly people were estimated to have dementia, reaching approximately 1 in 8 people aged 65 and over. In 2023, the number of missing person reports for people with dementia nationwide reached 19,039, marking a new record high for the 11th consecutive year. Problems that technology should be able to solve are not reaching those who need them due to the barrier of "not being able to use them." This is the fundamental problem we are addressing.

It's not that "the elderly can't use it." It's just that the design isn't yet made to make the elderly *want* to use it.

■Our Company's Initiatives

With the vision of "HACKing safety and security from your feet," our company has developed and provided "MimaMori Iru!", an insole-type monitoring device equipped with GPS and motion sensors. Its design, which allows it to be used simply by inserting it into a shoe, addresses issues such as "forgetting to carry it" due to dementia or "avoidance due to appearance." The philosophy of "usable without conscious effort" is the starting point of this product.

We have demonstrated one answer to how IoT can function by integrating into the daily routines of the elderly – in the form of an insole.

■Future Initiatives and the Team's Vision

The insole is just the first step of our dream. By 2040, an era will arrive where approximately 1 in 3 elderly people will have some form of cognitive impairment. To be ready for that era when care will be essential, our company will build products, services, and ecosystems centered on "IoT that the elderly will want to use."

Our goal is not to popularize a specific device, but to spread a digital experience throughout society with UX/UI that makes the elderly think, "I can use this" or "I can pick it up without thinking about it." This is the future we aim for.
