Rittorsha, a publishing label under Rittor Music Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Daisuke Matsumoto), which handles literary and cultural works within the Impress Group's music-related media business, will release 'True Record! Toei Triangle Mark Publicity Department' (written by Kuniaki Fukunaga, composed by Toshiro Ogata) on June 19, 2026.
Mr. Kuniaki Fukunaga, who worked in Toei's head office publicity department from 1966 and served as the 5th generation publicity director, looks back on the good old Showa-era film world. He vividly depicts the activities of film industry people from that anything-goes era, covering not only popular Toei series like 'Battles Without Honor and Humanity,' 'Truck Yarō,' and 'The Wives of the Yakuza,' but also Kadokawa works like 'Sailor Suit and Machine Gun' and 'The Battle of Port Arthur,' as well as his own planned Toei film 'Waga Ai no Uta: Taki Rentaro Monogatari.' The raw interactions with directors, actors, and staff will provide new perspectives for viewing each work.
The interview and composition are handled by film critic Toshiro Ogata. Interestingly, Ogata worked as Fukunaga's publicity assistant at Toei for a year and a half from the winter of his junior year until graduation, allowing him to draw out even the most difficult-to-ask anecdotes without hesitation.
The book is packed with content that could only be brought to the world by this duo, but as if that weren't enough, commemorative talk events have also been decided! On Saturday, June 13, an early release talk will be held at Shosen Grande in Jinbocho, a one-shot event with no streaming, promising talk unique to a closed environment.
Additionally, on Thursday, June 18, the day before the release, an early release talk will be held at Bunkitsu Roppongi. The host will be film history researcher Akihiko Ito, so it will be interesting to see what stories emerge.
