More than 10 years have passed since the 'Act on the Promotion of Bullying Prevention Measures' was established and enforced in 2013.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), boards of education, and schools have been working on bullying prevention, but according to MEXT surveys, both the number of recognized bullying cases and serious bullying incidents reached a record high in fiscal year 2024.

Bullying countermeasures involve not only teachers and education officials but also experts from various fields such as judiciary, medicine, welfare, and administration, with both practical efforts and research progressing.

At the inaugural conference, Professor Naoki Ogi, Professor Emeritus at Hosei University and a frequent media guest, was invited, and lively discussions took place.

The 2nd Academic Conference of the Japan Society for the Prevention of Child Bullying will be held on Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Tokyo Medical University Hospital (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) (Conference Chair: Jiro Masuya).

Registration for participation has now begun on the website.

At the 2nd Academic Conference, we will welcome Professor Tokio Uchiyama (Department of Welfare Psychology, Faculty of Welfare, Fukushima Gakuin University), who is widely active in supporting children with developmental disabilities, including autism, and Professor Toshihiko Matsumoto (Department of Drug Addiction Research, National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry, National Institute of Mental Health), who has supported many addiction patients and continues to disseminate information about addiction to society. We aim to make this a conference that takes a multifaceted approach to understanding the diversified bullying problems of today and promotes understanding.

We look forward to the participation of many people.
